Big Plays Propel North Greenville to First Win of 2024

Clinton, MS – North Greenville football notched its first win of the season Saturday with a 29 – 7 triumph over Mississippi College. 
 
Its is the third straight win over the Choctaws for North Greenville dating back to the 2022 season.  North Greenville is now leads the series 3 – 2 with an average margin of victory of 30 points. 
 
The Trailblazers took the lead in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown from Dylan Ramirez. The five-yard scamper capped a nine play, 45 – yard scoring drive for NGU and marked the first lead of the season for the Trailblazers. North Greenville's defense accounted for its first points of the season later in the second quarter forcing an intentional grounding in the endzone resulting in a safety for the Choctaws. 
 
North Greenville led by a touchdown and a two-point conversion (15-9) late into the third quarter before a big strike extended the lead to 13 – points. Dylan Ramirez found Tyshon Mansell from 71 – yards out to extend the lead to 22 – 7. The 71 – yard score is the longest of the season for North Greenville through three games. 
 
The Trailblazers were able to put the game away early in the fourth quarter with the help of a big play from the defense. RJ Glasgow picked off Mississippi College for NGU's second interception of the day, returning it 57 – yards to set up the offense inside the five yard line. Dylan Ramirez would add his second rushing score of the day two plays later to extend the lead to 29 – 7. 
 
Ramirez finished the game with a season high 283 – yards passing and a pair of passing scores. He added 20 – yards rushing and two touchdowns. Jacob Walker led NGU with 66 – yards rushing on 19 attempts. Tyshon Mansell had 100 – yards receiving on two recpetions and a touchdown. Sam Washam had 51 – yards and his first career receiving score. 
 
Defensively Jackson Sims led NGU with six tackles with a sack and a forced fumble. Termaine Epps intercepted a pass and returned it 79 yards to go along with Glasgow's INT. 
 
Next up 
North Greenville is back in Tigerville for a 7 PM kickoff next Saturday against Shorter.
